Real Bride Stories: Meet Renee!

We’re so excited to introduce you to one of our radiant real brides, Renee Zapinski! Renee’s wedding day was nothing short of magical, and she found her dream gown – the Martin Thornburg Cassel (Style 221206) – at House of K Bridal. Let’s dive into the beautiful details of her love story and timeless wedding day.

Renee and her husband, Sam, embraced a "timeless classic" theme for their wedding, focusing on simplicity with a captivating twist. With black, white, and sage as the main colors, they created an elegant yet minimalistic atmosphere. Their floral arrangements featured lush white roses, baby's breath, hydrangeas, and anemones, adding softness and romance to the grand architecture of their venue. Clean lines and lush green spaces truly set the tone for their stunning celebration.

Renee and Sam’s love story began back in 2013 when they met through mutual friends at the University of Kentucky. Although they didn’t romantically connect until 2020, their bond grew strong enough to weather both COVID and long-distance dating. Their first date was unforgettable – skydiving in Nashville! When it came time to propose, Sam knew exactly how to make the moment special. In November 2022, he popped the question at the picturesque Louisville Botanical Garden. How could she say anything but "yes"?

Renee and Sam chose the historic Peterson Dumesnil House in Louisville, Kentucky, as their wedding venue. The Italian villa-style design with its beautiful 14-foot ceilings, wrap-around porch, and grand spiral staircase created a breathtaking backdrop. Renee raved about their amazing event manager, Grace, and her father, Steve, who made planning such a breeze. “They went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and that made the venue even more special to us,” Renee shared.

Finding "the one" isn’t always easy – and we’re not just talking about Sam! Renee tried on around 80-100 wedding dresses across seven boutiques before she found her Martin Thornburg gown. But when she slipped into the Cassel, it was love at first sight. "It was the only dress that brought me to tears," she said. "It was timeless, couture, and everything I had been looking for." Renee knew she had found her gown when she felt truly like a bride in it.

One of Renee’s most cherished moments from the wedding day was standing with Sam during their ceremony, knowing she was marrying her best friend. "Exchanging our vows was when it all came together," she said. Renee also fondly remembers their first dance to "Spin You Around" by Morgan Wallen. As big country music fans, this song was an easy choice. She even humorously tried to DM Morgan to invite him to the wedding, but no luck there (haha!).

When asked for advice for other brides, Renee emphasized tuning out the noise: "Ask for opinions when you want them, but trust your gut and lean on your support system when needed." Her biggest takeaway? Enjoy every moment and rely on your partner throughout the journey.
